Post Graduated School

The aim of the postgraduated course in “Habitat e Cooperazione” is to provide both technological and professional qualification, which adds up to the one gained through undergraduate courses, and to infuse deep knowledge on operational methods and techniques for regenerating degraded neighbourhoods, preserving the architectural and environmental heritage and fostering new building projects in developing countries.

The course includes in person lessons, seminars and practical activities and is managed in cooperation with national and international institutions and non-governmental organizations.

The course lasts one semester, from February to June, for a total amount of 180 hours. Activities are developed in 5 sessions of intensive teaching, taking place one week per month.

Participants attend in person classes, seminars and practical activities and are involved in three workshop modules, two of which are dedicated to urban regeneration projects in marginal areas and one to the identification of low-cost housing solutions for temporary settlements.

Activities revolve around the following themes:
– technologies for environments in extreme and emergency conditions;
– low-cost self-help housing, design and building;
– sustainable urban regeneration;
– town-and-country planning and urban design;
– community planning and participation;
– environmental design;
– development of policies and programs.

Participants are offered the chance to put into practice knowledge acquired through an internship period to be spent either abroad or in Italy.
