  Pietro Betta

was born in 1908 and died in 1932 in Turin. Graduated in 1906 in Architecture at the Politecnico di Torino, Betta was assistant at the chair of Architecture.

In 1921 Betta taught History of Architecture at the faculty of Architecture and was teacher of Town Building at the Superior School of Architecture of Turin, to whose foundation he co-operated actively. Betta taught also at the Professional School for Building Assistants "G. A. Reycend".

As far as the architectonic production is concerned, Betta designed some private residences among which Chicco, Avezzano, Olivetti. He looked after the restoration of Chicco Castle in Cherasco and Carlo Alberto College in Moncalieri. Betta co-operated with the architect Melis in the urbanistic growth of Turin. Always with Melis, Betta founded the group of Turinese Urbanistic Architects, turned into Regional Piedmontese section of the National Urbanistic Institute, led by Betta.

One of his designs was the arrangement of via Roma, mainly the tract between squares Carlo Felice and San Carlo.

In the three-year term 1927-1929 Betta participated to some jobs, among which the Municipal Building, the restoration of the Dome of Turin and the resetting of civic museums of modern and ancient art.
