Harmonization of cartographics
The study area was chosen because it is formed by a common hydrogeological substrate which is useful to study as a whole. One difficulty of carrying out the analysis and hydrological models is the segmentation of any existing basic maps, which are developed with different characteristics depending on where they come from and are limited to their respective national regions in Italy or France.
It is therefore essential to standardise the maps from these two countries, an objective shared by the European INSPIRE Directive (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community).
Consequently, several changes have been made to national maps (digital mapping, DTM – Digital Terrain Model and orthophotos) in order to produce standardised products with common characteristics (reference system, nominal scale, pixel size, coding, etc.). Geoprocessing (ESRI ArcGIS) and image processing (ENVI) software was used to make these changes.
