In particolare, le microplastiche (MP) e nanoplastiche (NP) \u2013 direttamente immesse nell\u2019ambiente o derivanti dalla degradazione secondaria di macroplastiche \u2013 sollevano crescenti preoccupazioni, soprattutto riguardo la loro elevata biodisponibilit\u00e0 e i loro impatti ambientali e sanitari. Per via delle loro dimensioni ridotte (variano da decine di nanometri fino a raggiungere diversi micrometri), le particelle sono estremamente mobili e quindi difficili da isolare una volta disperse nell\u2019ambiente.<\/p><p>Dopo essere state rilasciate nell\u2019ecosistema, le particelle di plastica possono migrare verso diversi compartimenti ambientali (aria, acqua, suolo) fino a raggiungere potenziali recettori e quindi accumularsi nella catena alimentare. Sebbene gli impatti ambientali e sanitari dei derivati plastici siano ancora largamente sconosciuti, recenti studi hanno provato che la plastica, una volta dispersa nell\u2019ambiente, funge da vettore di composti tossici, farmaci, metalli pesanti, batteri e virus. Al fine di caratterizzare la mobilit\u00e0 delle plastiche nell\u2019ambiente, il GW Group conduce esperimenti in laboratorio, dove la stabilit\u00e0 colloidale e l\u2019aggregazione delle particelle di plastica vengono studiate in funzione dei parametri geochimici delle acque di falda.
