La valutazione del rischio sanitario ambientale presuppone la definizione quantitativa del sistema relazionale \u201csorgente \u2013 percorso \u2013 recettore\u201d. La procedura di analisi di rischio (AR) consiste in una sequenza di fasi: la caratterizzazione del sito, la definizione del modello concettuale (i.e. l\u2019identificazione dei potenziali recettori e dei percorsi di migrazione ed esposizione, selezione dei costituenti di interesse), la determinazione delle concentrazioni nel punto di esposizione, il calcolo del rischio, e l\u2019analisi concettuale (i.e. analisi di incertezza, valutazione dell\u2019accettabilit\u00e0 del rischio, calcolo della concentrazione massima ammissibile nella sorgente inquinante e scelta degli interventi necessari).<\/p><p>L\u2019analisi di rischio pu\u00f2 essere approfondita a vari livelli, secondo un approccio graduale di valutazione. Il primo livello consiste essenzialmente nel confrontare la contaminazione del sito con dei valori di screening. \u00c8 un tipo di valutazione qualitativa finalizzata a determinare eventuali urgenze di intervento. Il secondo livello consiste in un\u2019analisi di rischio con codici analitici semplificati, in cui i dati di input sono ricavati da indagini specifiche condotte sul sito, mentre per i parametri non noti si ricorre a dati validati e aggiornati da banche dati o presenti in letteratura, massimizzando la conservativit\u00e0 dei valori in gioco, in modo da sbilanciare, sempre in favore della tutela dell\u2019ambiente e della salute umana, qualsiasi elaborazione di calcolo. In particolare, il gruppo elabora modelli analitici per le analisi di secondo livello e modelli numerici per quelle di terzo livello.<\/p><p>Il GW Group si occupa inoltre dell\u2019analisi di rischio di contaminanti emergenti, nello specifico di potenziali rischi sanitari relativi alla diffusione di nanoparticelle (NP) nell\u2019ambiente. Siccome i nanomateriali sono caratterizzati da una distribuzione granulometrica polidispersa, i rischi sanitari causati dalla contaminazione di NP non possono essere valutati tramite la procedura ASTM, usata comunemente per le sostanze chimiche.
