His Master\u2019s thesis focuses on photo-transformation and toxicity of emerging contaminants in aqueous matrix (namely, bisphenols E and S, sertraline) in order to evaluate the transformation by-products of these pollutants and their toxicity in synthetic waters.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From April 2020 to March 2021, he was a research assistant in Prof. Tiraferri\u2019s research group at Politecnico di Torino. His work focused on improving the efficiency and sustainability of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) in the treatment of aqueous matrices of various nature.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subsequently, he returned to the University of Turin laboratories where he worked, under the supervision of Prof. Maurino, on the development of an induction pyrogasification system of waste plastic materials for their conversion to syngas. His work was mainly based on the analysis of gas composition, in addition to the choice of the catalysts for the various steps of syngas cleaning and the on-line sensor system of the pilot plant.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In December 2021, Marco started his position as a lab technician in the Groundwater Engineering Research Group and in the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/areeweb.polito.it\/ensurewater\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En.Sur.E. Water Lab<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in collaboration with Prof. Casasso, Sethi, Tiraferri and Tosco. He deals with the general management of the laboratories, with particular attention to analytical instruments and prototypes developed by these research groups. He is also currently dedicated to the development of new analytical protocols for chromatographic analyses of recalcitrant contaminants in groundwater, in particular PFAS and chlorinated organic solvents.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his spare time, Marco likes playing music, especially with his trumpet.
