the Groundwater Engineering Research Group is pleased to announce the short course:<\/strong>\u200b<\/p>\n

\u200bMNMs: A MODELLING TOOL FOR NANOPAR<\/u><\/strong>TICLE TRANSPORT IN POROUS MEDIA\u200b<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

March 7th- March 9th 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

The course provides an insight into the\u00a0mechanisms governing colloidal transport<\/strong>\u00a0in saturated porous media under both\u00a0constant\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0transient hydro-chemical conditions<\/strong>, with eventual\u00a0clogging<\/strong>\u00a0of the porous medium.<\/p>\n

Part of the course will be devoted to the practical use of\u00a0MNMs 2018<\/strong>\u00a0(M<\/u><\/strong>icro- and\u00a0N<\/u><\/strong>anoparticle transport, filtration and clogging\u00a0M<\/u><\/strong>odel –\u00a0S<\/u><\/strong>uite), a\u00a0numerical tool<\/strong>\u00a0for the analysis of\u00a0laboratory tests<\/strong>\u00a0of solute and nanoparticles transport and for the\u00a0simulation<\/strong>\u00a0of particle injection at pilot scale.<\/p>\n

The course will start with an\u00a0opening seminar<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on “Restoring\u00a0aquifers contaminated by\u00a0heavy metals\u00a0using iron oxide nanoparticles: results and experiences from the H2020 REGROUND project<\/strong>” that will take place on the afternoon of March the 7th (14:00-16:00) at the venue:<\/p>\n

Deadline for registration is February the 26th.<\/p>\n

The registration for the course is free of charge. However, each participant is asked to bring a poster about the research activity<\/span> he\/she is working on.<\/p>\n

A poster exposition will be organized during the seminar and course.<\/p>\n
