{"id":866,"date":"2018-03-21T11:16:50","date_gmt":"2018-03-21T10:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/areeweb.polito.it\/ricerca\/groundwater\/?page_id=866"},"modified":"2020-01-07T15:55:02","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T14:55:02","slug":"luca-serpella","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/areeweb.polito.it\/ricerca\/groundwater\/team\/luca-serpella\/","title":{"rendered":"Luca Serpella"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Luca Serpella is a research fellow, and he got his master degree in Materials Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in December 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is working on a research project called <a href=\"https:\/\/areeweb.polito.it\/ricerca\/groundwater\/research\/colloids\/nanopesticides\/\">NANOGRASS<\/a> aimed to Develop a <strong>NANO<\/strong>-herbicide formulation that could minimize the impact of a<strong>GR<\/strong>ochemic<strong>A<\/strong>ls on <strong>S<\/strong>oil and <strong>S<\/strong>ubsoil. He is using different materials in order to find out which carrier is better for the realization of such a system.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-867 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/areeweb.polito.it\/ricerca\/groundwater\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Luca-GW.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"305\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Luca carried out his Master thesis in Turin, at Politecnico, researching and developing an oral delivery system for a particular drug (piroxicam) using mesoporous silica, in cooperation with SMAC group (<em><strong>S<\/strong>upercritical fluids<\/em>&nbsp;and <strong>MA<\/strong>terials <strong>C<\/strong>hemistry). He chose that particular drug due to its low solubility in water and organic solvents and the use of silica as a carrier improved the solubility of piroxicam.
