Summary of Research Activity | 1999 - present Fundamental study of unconventional superconductors (copper oxides, MgB2 and related compounds, iron-based superconductors etc), in particular: - experimental determination of the amplitude and symmetry of the superconducting gap (as a function of temperature, magnetic field and doping) by means of point-contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy - development of advanced models for the analysis of experimental data of point-contact spectroscopy in multigap and/or anisotropic superconductors (e.g. generalizations of the BTK model) - study of the mechanism of superconducting coupling by means of point-contact and tunnel spectroscopy and comparison with theoretical predictions 2003 - present Advanced surface characterization of thin films of superconductors: morphology (AFM, STM), local conductivity at room temperature (STM), local and spatially-averaged superconducting properties (point-contact spectroscopy and resistivity measurements), map of local gaps 2006 - present Tuning of the electric properties of thin films of metals, semiconductors and superconductors by means of the “field effect” (using the conventional FET design or the electrochemical gating technique) 2006 Experimental study of magnetic materials used as flux concentrators in inductors for temper of metals: directional transport measurements at high temperature (up to 300°C) 1997-2002 Experimental study of the resistance anisotropy induced by the magnetic field in granular superconductors and development of the relevant physical model 1996-1997 Experimental study of the electrical noise in granular superconductors as a function of temperature and magnetic field | ||||||||||||||||||
