Leaving from the 70s, the Politecnico di Torino, began to consider the possibility to decentralise the didactics on the Piedmont territory. After the experience of classes held in Novara (1971), Vercelli classes were started. In 1990 this led to the creation of the II faculty of engineering.
From 1990-91 the Engineering 2-year classes are held in MondovÏ, where from 1992-93 also Architecture classes are held. By creating Degree classes initiatives were started at Alexandria (Degree in Electric Engineering and Mechanical Engineering), Aosta (Degree in telecoms Engineering), Biella (Degree in Chemical Engineering), MondovÏ (Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Two-language (Italian/French) degree in Mechanical Engineering), Ivrea (Degree in Electronic Engineering and IT Engineering).
The School led for special purposes by experts in the industrial production, which started its co-operation with the Brighton Polytechnic since 1986, from 1995-96 turned into a European degree in Industrial Production.
