(Astatic) Nobili's galvanometer |
|
The Italian physicist Leopoldo Nobili (1784-1835) is known for having manufactured the first thermoelectric piles and the astatic Galvanometer. Nobili's astatic Galvanometer is a Galvanometer for d.c. with mobile magnetic needle. To eliminate the perturbation due to even very slight variations in the surrounding magnetic field, Nobili manufactured an equipment complete with two thin magnetic needles, strongly joined with a unique twisting wire, which are parallel but with reverted polarities. |
