THE COLLECTIONS
The Royal Application School for Engineers and the Royal Industrial Museum owned valuable collections, some of which were solely used to didactic purposes, others shown in museums.
In 1908 the Politecnico, which inherited the collections managed to reset them, updating and rearranging them. In 1911 the collections of the former Royal Industrial Museum were moved to Valentino head office where also the collections of the former Application School were kept.
The Politecnico acquired the Museum of Geology and Minerology and the Industrial Museum. In addition, also didactic collections were kept, such as the ones of "Construction Models", "Mechanic Models" and "Topographic Instruments".
After several events, the collections were brought back to the head office of the Royal Industrial Museum (Via dell'Ospedale), where they remained up to 1942. After a bombing the Royal Industrial Museum was destroyed and several collections were lost.
At present the material of collections is kept at Politecnico departments, both for compliance and historic meeting reasons, but also due to didactic purposes.
