Bilancio Energetico Provinciale della Provincia di Torino
Research contract between the Energy Department of the Politecnico di Torino and the Provincia di Torino for the evaluation of the Provincial Energy Balance.
Year: 1999
Funding: Provincia di Torino
Scientific Responsible: Prof. Evasio Lavagno
The project has involved the evaluation of the Provincial Energy Balance, in order to provide an overview of the energy commodity flows in the Provincia di Torino, from the extraction to the final energy consumption by end-use sector. This balance takes into account inflows (imports) and outflows (exports), transformation processes and losses in distribution systems. As final output, numerical summary and graphical representations of the existing energy situation are produced. The Provincial Energy Balance is an energy planning tool that allows to put into evidence trend lines useful to support the policy makers. The Provincial Energy Balance for the Provincia di Torino has been inspired by the MEPER methodology, which has been developed by ENEA and applied, in the past, to the preparation of regional energy balances (and, in particular, to the preparation of the balance of the Regione Piemonte). A revised calculation system has been coupled to the above mentioned methodology; this system utilizes some of the calculation algorithms of the MEPER, but it is characterized by a new setting and by a remarkable ease of use and modification.
