Casella di testo: The research interests of our section are mainly focussed on the investigation of the origin and possible unification of the fundamental interactions within the context of supergravity, in relation to superstring theory.

Lines of research
Study of black hole solutions in supergravity and superstring theories;
Construction of (gauged-) supergravity models describing non-perturbative vacua of superstring/M-theory and their application to a unified description of the four fundamental interactions and to  cosmological model building;
Investigation of more general formulations of supergravity models in the presence of boundaries in space-time;
Description of fluids in a supersymmetric context, in relation to the description fo our universe in its early stages of evolution
Development and application of new group-theoretical techniques to the study of supersymmetric theories and their solutions: Nilpotent orbits of real semisimple Lie algebras in relation to the classification of supergravity black hole solutions; expansion techniques of Lie algebras.
Investigation of new formulations of the Born– Infeld theory, with new and manifest global duality symmetries.

The principal strategic objectives of our research for the next four years

Construction of a viable model  of inflation within (gauged-) supergravity, in the light of the recent cosmological observations (Planck collaboration);
Microscopic description of the thermodynamic properties of black holes within superstring/M-theories, using a supergravity approach;
