  Giampietro Chironi

was born in Nuoro (Sardinia) on 5th October 1855 and died in Turin on 1st October 1918. Chironi attended the University of Cagliari and graduated in Law in 1876. Since 1876 he was doctor in Roman and Civil Law and in 1881 he became professor of Civil Law in the University of Siena, then in Turin's. Chironi was appointed as Rector of the University of Turin (1903-1906), and Director of the Istituto di studi commerciali (that later became the Faculty of Economics). Elected as a deputy in the Chamber (1892-95), he was appointed as deputy director of the Politecnico in its beginning phase (1905-1906). Chironi was elected in 1908 as a senator of the Kingdom of Italy.
