  Giovanni Castellazzi

Giovanni Castellazzi   engineeer and architect, born in Sartirana Lomellina (Pavia) in 1824 and died in Saint Vincent (Aosta) in 1876.
From 1870 to 1876 Castellazzi teaches Architecture.

Colonnel and then general of military engineers, Castellazzi was also director of studies at the Royal Military Academy of Turin.

He published reports and designs of his projects mainly on military papers. In addition, Castellazzi looked after the didactic collection "Fabbriche moderne inventate da Carlo Promis ad uso Studenti di Architettura e pubblicate con Note ed Aggiunte dal suo Allievo Giovanni Castellazzi" (Modern factories invented by Carlo Promis to be used by students of Architecture and published with Notes and Additions by his student Giovanni Castellazzi).

Politically concerned in the moving of the capital town from Turin to Florence, in Turin Castellazzi was mainly interested in military buildings. He is the author of the project for Cernaia barracks (via Cernaia 23).
