  Miro Gamba

was born on 14th August 1879 and died on 29th October 1957 in Bellagio (Como). Gamba studied in the town where he was born, namely in Como and Turin, where he graduated in Civil Engineering at the Royal Application School for Engineers in August 1902.

Soon later, Gamba was nominated as an assistant to chairs of Thermal Machines and Science of Constructions, held by professor Camillo Guidi. Leaving from the academic year 1906-1907 Gamba taught Railway Material. In 1914 the professor qualified for the university teaching in Railways. During the first world war, Gamba made his military service in Air Forces as a reserve officer, devoting himself to the creation of a school for engineers.

In 1919, after the chair of Thermal Machines became vacant due to the death of professor Cesare Penati, he got it, keeping it up to 1932. In 1932 Gamba starts teaching Mechanical Technology, replacing Alfredo Galassini, retired due to age reasons.

Gamba taught also Technical Oganisation of Industries, Techniques and Economics of Transports and Special Aeronautic Technologies.

After retiring, leaving from 1927, Gamba continued his scientific and research activity within the Institute, as a director of the Mechanical Workshop. In addition, he was called by some public authorities as office expert in technical scientific controversies.
