Bartolomeo Gastaldi

was born in Turin in 1818. Gastaldi was a geologist, mineralogist, paleontologist. Member of the Academy of Sciences since July 1845. Gastaldi wrote twenty-five Memorie (Memories).
The Cai (Italian Alpine Club) devoted to Gastaldi the summit in the chain of Monviso and the first mountain hut in the High Valley of Lanzo at Crot del Ciaussiné, on the foot of Bessanese.
