  Modesto Panetti

Modesto Panetti   was born in Acquaviva delle Fonti (Bari) on 9th February 1875.
In 1896 Panetti graduated at the Politecnico di Torino, with a specialisation in Electrotechniques and in 1899 he graduated in Maths.

Temporary lecturer in Theoretic Mechanics at the Navy School of Genoa in 1902, in 1910 Panetti was called at the Politecnico di Torino for the chair of Mechanics Applied to Machines. From 1912 onwards Panetti teaches aeronautic subjects, too.

Dean of the faculty of engineering for one decade approximately, Panetti was senator of the Republic from 1948 to 1953, Minister of Mail and Telecommunications in 1953, emeritus professor of the Politecnico.

He died in Turin on 26th March 1957.

His studies of dynamics and thermodynamics, mainly those of aerodynamics, are even to-day very evaluated for the teaching.
