Different techniques for in cylinder NOx and PM emission control in Diesel engines are extensively investigated by means of both numerical simulation and experimental activities.

Different EGR architectures and control strategies (HP EGR, LP EGR, Dual loop EGR, Model based EGR control); complex turbocharging and variable valve actuation systems (Miller cycle, internal EGR) are also evaluated, in close cooperation with both automotive (GM) and marine/powerplant diesel manufactures (Wartsila).
