MINE MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT

This is a set of drillers including the prototype compressed air or steam driller by Germano Someiller of 858 and two subsequent units, used the first from 1861 to 1862 for tunnelling the Frejus, the second from 1863 to 1871 for tunnelling the Frejus and later for tunnelling the San Gottardo. In addition, the collection includes the driller Ferroux used for tunnelling the Arlberg from 1880 to 1884 and an alternative driller Ingersoll Eclipse of 1900.

Collection of mine equipment
It includes units manufactured from the end of XVIII century to 1940. We can signal one probe for coring, and some magnetic-electric exploders for mines of the beginning of XIX century, laboratory equipment for preparing minerals (1905-1940), detection instruments in underground environment and instruments for microscopic analysis.

Collection of industrial machines and equipment for preparing minerals
The most ancient unit is the electromagnetic grading machine by Quintino Sella, patented in 1855, which was used in the Traversella mine for dry separating magnetite from minerals associated to it.

Collection of didactic models
It includes five models of mine machines for treating minerals which were manufactured between 1900 and 1915 in Austria, which ceased them as a repair for war damages. We can mention the steam winch for extraction, the mine centrifuge ventilator, the Rittinger shake table, the Hancock drill, the piston Harz drill and a Derrick oil drilling system.
