Ph.D. Student
Gabriele Copetti earned his M.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in October 2024, with a specialization in Industrial Sustainability. He started working on membrane-based water treatment processes during his Erasmus Exchange at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU), Denmark, where he investigated the technical and economic feasibility of membrane distillation to produce pure water for electrolysis under the co-supervision of Prof. Wenjing (Angela) Zhang (DTU Sustain) and Prof. Alberto Tiraferri.
As of November 2024, Gabriele is a 40th cycle PhD student in Applied Environmental Engineering within the en.sur.e water group. His research focuses on membrane processes for seawater desalination and water reuse, aiming for zero liquid discharge in industrial facilities. Currently, he is working on the design and testing of an off-grid solar-desalination demo for emergency conditions, in collaboration with the SMall group (DENERG, Polito).
Outside university, he is passionate about tech innovation, societal change, and sustainable living. He also enjoys reading sci-fi books and manga, exploring new cities and venues, and, sometimes, cooking.
