Educational Proposal
educational and dissemination activities
related to the design, the planning and the management of
Underground spaces.
With reference to the decisions assumed by
the 8th General Assembly held during the 12th ACUUS International
Conference (Shenzhen, November 19th 2009), the LAME Laboratory group
submitted to the ACUUS Member an educational and dissemination
acrivities plan:
TRAINING ACTIVITIES:
Master Course
(one-year long, with Basic and Specialized Modules, followed by an
application Stage), based on the training program already offered
into the TRUE (Training for Underground
Environment) Project.
Short Modules
on selected topics (from 3 days to two weeks sessions).
A tentative list of these modules includes the following subjects:
• LCA methodologies for underground space sustainability
evaluations.
• Economics of underground space constructions and management.
• Design and O&M solutions for underground space activities:
commercial, leisure, industry, storage, parking.
• Technological solutions for underground space.
• Monitoring and control of underground space.
• People in underground: orientation, comfort, security, lighting.
• Underground solution for people and freight transportation.
• Underground networks and multi-purpose tunnels.
• Methodologies and tools for optimal visual comfort design
(daylight and hybrid solutions, collectors and conductors).
• Indoor Air Quality evaluation methodologies and tools.
Workshops
devoted to deepen, with the help of experts, particular aspects
(like as the use of daylight in underground space, signs and
colours, Indoor Air Quality, underground and the environment,
psychological and physiological effects) that could be offered
during the regular ACUUS Conference or as ad hoc occasions.
DOCUMENTATION AND DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES:
Institution of a Documentation Centre
with the purpose of promoting the diffusion of underground space
“culture”, through
-
the development of a Data Base useful for searching, recording, managing and disseminating (also through the publication of papers, dossiers and books) relevant worldwide examples concerning best practice and proposed design of underground space utilisation;

the realization and dissemination of multi-media products
-
the institution and management of an Underground Space Atlas, where relevant examples are classified by typology, final destination, users and target

the management of the ACUUS – EDU web site.
