FUND OF CARTOGRAPHY OF TURIN
On the genesis of this collection, Roberto Gabetti writes: "In some boxes at the Institute of Composition remained - at times when I was an Assistant of Carlo Mollino - some planimetries of Turin, even rare, which came from old collections created by Cesare Bairati, at times in which he was an Assistant of Giovanni Muzio (...). Obviously, it was interesting to create a homogeneous and complete documentary body, possibly reproducible (...). I spoke of this to some Colleagues: I understood that the initiative could be interesting to Giovanni Lupo (...) ". This way a research starts that by one ten years leads to individuate 242 planimetries of the town, published from 1572 and 1954. For every iconography a negative photograph, a large sized tracing drawing, an heliographic copy on which original colours are shown, were produced. The fund has a printed catalogue, published as above, stating, in addition to critical essays for reading consistencies, the full list of maps and the reproduction of a choice of the most important of them.
