  Cesare Codegone

was born in Novara on 16th March 1904. In October 1920 Codegone enlisted at the Politecnico di Torino. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautic Engineering) with professor Modesto Panetti.
In 1926 Codegone was called as a temporary assistant by professor Benedetto Luigi Montel, at the Cabinet of Thermotechniques (then Institute of Technical Physics).

In 1928 Codegone became a full assistant after a competition. Only two months later the degree, he was required to teach an evening course in Thermodynamics at the 3rd year for army officers in leave after the Great War, who had broken their studies.

Later on, Codegone qualified as a university teacher in Thermodynamics (1934), was an annually appointed lecturer of Technical Physics at the faculty of Architecture in a first term (1936-1963), full professor later (1947-1974), and then (1960-1971) an annually appointed lecturer in the class of Thermal Special Plants always at the Politecnico di Torino.

From 1947 to 1974 he was director at the Institute of Technical Physics, that in 1956 was called Institute of Technical Physics and Nuclear Plants, and director in the refreshing courses of the Nuclear Engineering "Giovanni Agnelli" from 1956 to 1980.

Pro-rector at the Politecnico from 1956 to 1970, Codegone from 1950 to 1960 he taught at the course of Technical Physics in the Army Application School. In November 1974 he left the official teaching at the Politecnico.

Codegone was appointed correspondent member of the Academy of Sciences in 1950, national resident member in 1971, from 1976 to 1982 secretary and from 1982 to 1985 director in the class of physical, mathematic and natural Sciences. He died in Turin in 1992.
