LCA
Life Cycle Assessment

The LAME research group investigated the use and development of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology since the late 90s to promote thesis and trainings, to participate to EU projects on the topic and co-operating with renowned research centres and companies in Italy and abroad. The activity was mainly targeted to the assessment of innovative energy systems, with a special focus on hydrogen and its technologies.

Alcuni esempi di tali attivitàSome examples of the group activities:

  • Well-to-wheel analysis of alternative powertrains
  • LCA of PEM fuel cells for automotive applications (FUERO project, as subcontractor to CRFiat)
  • LCA of carbon fibre wrapped pressure vessels for hydrogen storage
  • LCA of fuel cells for CHP applications (NEEDS project)
  • LCA of hydrogen transportation (NEEDS project)
  • LCA of innovative energy systems (IV generation nuclear power plant, hydrogen production, fuel cells) (PhD thesis).

The group manages a licence for the Swiss database ecoinvent (www.ecoinvent.ch) and owns two licences of SimaPro Analyst software.
