Different techniques for in cylinder NOx and PM emission control have been extensively investigated for both spark ignition and compression ignition engines by means of both numerical simulation and experimental activities.
Different EGR architectures and control strategies (HP EGR, LP EGR, Dual loop EGR, Model based EGR control); complex turbocharging and variable valve actuation systems (Miller cycle, internal EGR) are also been evaluated, in close cooperation with both automotive (GM) and Marine/Off-Road diesel manufactures (Wartsila, Kohler).
