Mohammad is a Chemical Engineer and joined the Groundwater Engineering Research Group as research fellow since April 2023. Mohammad holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tabriz (UoT) and Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), respectively.

During Mohammad’s Bachelor’s degree back in Sep. 2014, he designed and fabricated a pilot-plant fluidized-bed reactor for treatment of textile wastewaters employing Heterogeneous Fenton process investigating hydrodynamics and chemical kinetics. Later on, and throughout his Master’s thesis in 2016-2017, Mohammad worked on mitigating membrane fouling in oily wastewater separation by embodiment of de-electrophoresis to microfiltration, making a significant contribution to the field of water treatment.

From June 2018 to March 2022 and as a research assistant at the Center of Excellence for Membrane Science and Technology (CEMST) in IUST, Mohammad researched membrane-based systems for saline water desalination and wastewater treatments, working with a range of membrane types, including ceramic, polymeric, nanocomposite, and thin film composite membranes, for different applications such as Microfiltration (MF), Ultrafiltration (UF), Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Forwards Osmosis (FO).

Mohammad also served as a process engineer and tender coordinator at Absun Zolal Co. form March 2022 to March 2023, where he designed and developed managed industrial-scale desalination as well as water and wastewater treatment systems for various industries, developing practical solutions that meet the specific needs of their clients.

At Politecnico di Torino, Mohammad is currently focusing on the removal of microplastics from wastewater trying to find new solutions to the challenges of the environmental pollution resulted from microplastics emission, a crucial issue for environmental sustainability.
