Leonardo holds a B.Sc. in Civil and Environmental Engineering obtained in February 2018 from Università degli Studi di Firenze, and M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering obtained in October 2020 from Politecnico di Torino. His master thesis concerns the transport of nanoplastics in water treatment systems. During his studies at Politecnico, he joined the A.K.A.NOAH team, whose goal is to equip a boat with a system able to collect plastic wastes and measure microplastic (MP) and nanoplastic (NP) concentrations in water bodies. Currently he is a PhD student (36th cycle 2019-2022) under the supervision of Prof. Rajandrea Sethi and Prof. Tiziana Tosco. His studies mainly concern the transport of micro- and nanoplastics in treatment plant filters and soil.

In his free time, Leonardo likes to participate in outdoor activities (camping, trekking and fishing) to stay in touch with nature. When the weather is bad, he loves carpentering and cooking.
