Marco holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Chemical Technologies obtained in December 2017 from Università degli Studi di Torino, and a M.Sc. in Clinical, Forensic and Sport Chemistry obtained in December 2019 from the same university. His Master’s thesis focuses on photo-transformation and toxicity of emerging contaminants in aqueous matrix. He worked on the degradation of pollutants (bisphenols E and S, sertraline) under UV and solar light through TiO2 heterogeneous photocatalysis. The aim of his study was to evaluate the transformation by-products of these pollutants and their toxicity in synthetic waters.

From April 2020 to March 2021, he was a research assistant in Prof. Tiraferri’s research group at Politecnico di Torino. His work focused on improving the efficiency and sustainability of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) in the treatment of aqueous matrices of various nature.

Subsequently, he returned to the University of Turin laboratories where he worked, under the supervision of Prof. Maurino, on the development of an induction pyrogasification system of waste plastic materials for their conversion to syngas. His work was mainly based on the analysis of gas composition, in addition to the choice of the catalysts for the various steps of syngas cleaning and the on-line sensor system of the pilot plant.

In December 2021, Marco started his position as a lab technician in the Groundwater Engineering Research Group and in the En.Sur.E. Water Lab, in collaboration with Prof. Sethi, Tiraferri and Tosco. He deals with the general management of the laboratories, with particular attention to analytical instruments and prototypes developed by these research groups.
