DORA AND PO RIVERS
The town of Turin was settled by the Romans on the confluence of two rivers: Po, flowing from South to North, across the hill, and Dora Riparia, flowing from West to East.
Then the town was naturally protected and very early found in the Dora its main energetic resource.
Since the Middle Age, the Dora Riparia water was conveyed to channels (duriae), supplying mills, jacks and other plants.
Instead, on the Po, due to the difficulty of creating channels, floating mills were installed.
