PROJECTS AND HOPES
As it happens in all histories, not all ideas and projects become real. Also the Politecnico passed through the experience of projects that, due to their non-definitive nature and to changed conditions, remained on paper only.
Among these projects, there is the project of the "new head office" coordinated by Professor Muzio and edited in only one year from 1939 to 1940, and perhaps it is the most important project.
The complex had to be settled along the Po river, but war events did not allow its implementation. Of previous designs both related to the Castle and to the head office in via Ospedale, only a few maps and documents remain.
Returning to our times, the project by which the Politecnico will face the new millenium, is named "Raddoppio del Politecnico" (Polytechnic Doubling). The complex will rise in the area of the ex-Workshops for Large Repairs of the State Railways, next to the present head office of Corso Duca degli Abruzzi.
